Description: The Fanconi anemia complementation group (FANC) currently includes FANCA, FANCB, FANCC, FANCD1 (also called BRCA2), FANCD2, FANCE, FANCF, FANCG, FANCI, FANCJ (also called BRIP1), FANCL, FANCM and FANCN (also called PALB2). The previously defined group FANCH is the same as FANCA. Fanconi anemia is a genetically heterogeneous recessive disorder characterized by cytogenetic instability, hypersensitivity to DNA crosslinking agents, increased chromosomal breakage, and defective DNA repair. The members of the Fanconi anemia complementation group do not share sequence similarity; they are related by their assembly into a common nuclear protein complex. This gene encodes the protein for complementation group E. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description: Intermediate for incorporation of sulphonic acid groups into polymers.

Catalog Number: (BNUM0947-50)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Recognizes the blood group H type 2 antigens, trisaccharide Fucα1-2Galβ1-4GlcNAcβ1 of human origin. This protein is the basis of the ABO blood group system. The histo-blood group ABO involves three carbohydrate antigens: A, B, and H. A, B, and AB individuals express a glycosyltransferase activity that converts the H antigen to the A antigen (by addition of UDP-GalNAc) or to the B antigen (by addition of UDP-Gal), whereas O individuals lack such activity. It is expressed on endothelial cells, epithelial cells and granulocytes. Increased expression of this antigen has been observed on some tumor tissues such as gastric carcinomas, urothelial carcinomas, and colon carcinomas.

Description: Tetrabromophenol Blue (TBPB) belongs to the group of sulfonephthalein acid-base indicators. It is employed in the potentiometric titration of the halogens with Hg₂(NO₃)₂. In addition, it has been used as a dye indicator in urine dipstick test to detect proteinuria. In this assay, with increasing concentration of urinary protein, TBPB sequentially changes colour from pale green to blue. Binding of TBPB to proteins is dependent on pH.

Supplier: Biotium
Description: Recognizes a carbohydrate determinant of Gal 1-3(Fuc 1-4) GlcNAc which is blood group antigen Lewis A. It is present primarily on epithelial cells such as colon and kidneys. In the tumors and dedifferentiated tissues, decrease of Lewis A antigen was observed. Lewis A (type 1 chain) is expressed in colonic epithelial cells and may be useful for detection of gastrointestinal tumors, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal tumors. Blood group related antigens represent a group of carbohydrate determinants carried on both glycolipids and glycoproteins. They are usually mucin-type, and are detected on erythrocytes, certain epithelial cells, and in secretions of certain individuals. Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but inter-related specificities belong to this group of antigens, including A, B, H, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens.

Description: High Mobility Group (HMG) proteins, a group of chromosomal proteins common to all eukaryotes, bind DNA in a non-sequence-specific fashion to promote chromatin function and gene regulation, helping with transcription, replication, recombination, and DNA repair. HMGB4 is HMG2-like, isoform 2, high-mobility group box 4. This gene can be found on Chromosome 1. HMGB4 contains two HMG-box regions, and is found in a variety of eukaryotic chromosomal proteins. HMGB proteins are phosphorylated to various extents. The existence of differentially modified forms increases the number of distinct HMGB protein variants in plant chromatin that may be adapted to certain functions.

Description: This MAb preferably reacts with determinants of chain A and H type 3(Gal1-3GalNAc-R) and 4 (Gal1-3GalNAc-R), but not with type 1 and 2 chain structures. It is not reactive with immuno-dominant A trisaccharide. This MAb is applicable for tissue staining in tumor patients with blood groups A and AB. It shows a highly heterogeneous reactivity in human colon tumor tissue and adjacent mucosa. Blood-group antigens are generally defined as molecules formed by sequential addition of saccharides to the carbohydrate side chains of lipids and proteins detected on erythrocytes and certain epithelial cells. The A, B and H antigens are reported to undergo modulation during malignant cellular transformation.

Description: Glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. For many years it had been considered to act only on the ligand-gated receptor channels-termed NMDA, AMPA and kainite receptors that are involved in the fast excitatory synaptic transmission. Recently, glutamate has been shown to regulate enzymes producing second messengers via specific receptors coupled to G-proteins. These receptors are called metabotropic glutamate receptors. In expression systems, Group-I receptors stimulate phospholipase C as revealed by an increase in phosphoinositide turnover and calcium release from internal stores. Group-II and -III receptors are coupled to the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. The Group-I receptors include Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 5 and Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 1a. The Group-II receptors in include mGluR2 and mGluR3.
