Antibody titer of the IgG fraction is standardized by equivalence-point precipitation. The IgG fraction is tested for purity and specificity at 40 mg/mL using immunoelectrophoresis. The product is mostly goat IgG; no trace of albumin is detected.

Guanidine hydrochloride consists of a network of guanidinium cations and chloride anions linked by N–H•••Cl hydrogen bonds, it is a strong chaotropic agent. Guanidine HCl may agglomerate upon storage. It may appear as a free-flowing crystalline powder, a free flowing powder with solid material dispersed throughout, or a solid. The quality of the product does not appear to be affected and solutions prepared from the free-flowing and lumpy guanidine HCl appear identical.
Guanidine hydrochloride can be used as the first step in refolding proteins or enzymes into their active form. Urea and dithiothreitol (DTT) may also be necessary. Also used in the isolation of RNA. Guanidine hydrochloride is a strong chaotropic agent useful for the denaturation and subsequent refolding of protein, it can solubilize insoluble or denatured proteins such as inclusion bodies and be used for the recovery of periplasmic proteins.

Description: Avidin is a basic glycoprotein consisting of four essentially identical subunits. The combined molecular weight of the subunits is about 66,000. Each subunit is a single polypeptide chain containing 128 amino acid residues with alanine at the N-terminal, glutamic acid at the C-terminal, and a carbohydrate moiety attached at the aspariginyl residue, position 17. It is isolated from raw egg white. It exhibits high binding affinity for biotin and is capable of producing biotin deficiency in rats and chicks. It also occurs in the white portion of eggs and the oviducts of birds and amphibia. It is destroyed by cooking or irradiation.

Description: Creatinine, the end product of creatine catabolism is a normal constituent of urine; daily output about 25 mg/kg body weight. The increased amounts in the urine are typically associated with substantially impaired renal function. Also found together with creatine in muscle tissues and blood. It reacts with picric acid under alkaline conditions to form a Janovski complex. The rate of formation of the colored complex, measured at 480-520 nm is proportional to the creatinine concentration.
Creatinine is a useful marker for normalizing levels of other molecules found in urine and the altered creatinine levels may be associated with conditions that result in decreased renal blood flow, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
